Directions
The Thatch is situated in the heart of
the district of Exeter known as Exwick, just a minute's walk from the
beautiful River Exe, the impressive Millers Bridge and the nearby Flowerpot playing fields,
and just a short distance from the two main Exe Bridges, the city centre and the historical Quayside area.
Arriving on foot from the City Centre travel
down Fore Street or along Alphington Street or Cowick Street to Exe
Bridge Island, then follow the road signs to St. David's Station and
walk along Bonhay Road as far as the pedestrian Millers Bridge on your
left. Cross the bridge and the other bridge leading off it and bear
right to pass Flowerpot Playing Fields until you reach the Civil Service
Sports Club and Exwick Road. The Thatch is on your right. Alternatively,
walk along the river path as far as Flowerpot Playing Fields then
continue as above.
Arriving by road, from the direction of
Crediton or Stoke Canon travel along the A377 Bonhay Road until you
reach the St. David's Station level crossing. Cross the railway here and continue
forwards,
turning left at the junction into Exwick Road. The Thatch is
approximately half a mile on your left.
From the M5 (junction 30) or the A30
eastbound follow
the road signs to Exeter. At Alphington Cross junction (just before
Sainsburys) take the first
left exit to join Cowick Lane. Continue forwards for approximately two
miles, passing through several junctions and sets of traffic lights. The Thatch will
be evident on your right.
